Regional Cornell clubs and associations help alumni foster connections with each other and the university. They help Cornellians come together to support local communities, causes, and students on campus today. Their work also raises awareness and dollars for access and affordability, a key priority of Cornell’s To Do the Greatest Good campaign.
Raising funds for 90 scholarships.
Cornell clubs raise funds for 90 different scholarships that exclusively support undergraduate students. In fiscal year 2024, the clubs supported 221 student recipients by raising more than $655,000 in total.
Supporting students through the New York City Marathon. Five runners in the 2024 New York City Marathon raised awareness and dollars for NYC Cornellians’s undergraduate scholarship fund. The club, which partnered with New York Road Runners for the annual event, aimed to support students from New York City with financial need.
Partnering to provide opportunities for students. The Cornell Club of Northeast Ohio raises funds and partners with the Summer of the Cuyahoga program, allowing Cornell students to participate in paid internships in the Cleveland area each summer.
Growing investments for the future. The Cornell Club of Oregon and Southwest Washington (CCORSW) scholarship has grown to a market value of $3 million, making it the largest of any Cornell club in the country. The annual payout exceeds $100,000 annually—enough to provide scholarships for all Cornell students from Oregon who have unmet need.
“I think this scholarship gives them a warm feeling. Knowing that people in their community have been impacted enough by the Cornell experience that they want to pass it along to the next generation, this is the Cornell tradition,” says Mort Bishop ’74, who established the CCORSW scholarship in 1980.
