Climate change, globalization, the loss of biodiversity, and a growing need for food production and safety are putting enormous strain on the health of people, animals, and the planet. At the same time, pets are increasingly viewed as family members in both developed and developing countries. This has important implications for the demand and quality of veterinary education and care.

At the College of Veterinary Medicine, we are tackling these challenges through service and scientific discovery. Our commitment is to preserve our standards of excellence even as we seek out new opportunities. Innovative faculty, students, alumni, and staff are designing solutions that will guide our future course.

Future priorities for the College of Veterinary Medicine Annual Fund include:

How the Veterinary College would use future gifts at the following levels:

  • $5,000will enable two students to attend national veterinary conferences, such as the conference of the American Academy of Internal Veterinary Medicine.
  • $10,000will provide one student with a scholarship to reduce their post-graduation debt. Without this burden, the graduate can opt to practice in high-need areas, where pay may be lower.
  • $25,000will provide the resources to hire and equip new outstanding faculty, ensuring Cornell remains among the best veterinary schools in the world.

“Unrestricted gifts to the College of Veterinary Medicine Annual Fund support every aspect of our students’ experiences and advance our missions of scientific discovery and service. Gifts support recruiting and retaining superb faculty, enroll the most promising students, and provide outstanding clinical education in our teaching hospitals.

These resources make it possible to seize opportunities as they arise, and they allow us to realize long-term goals for the college that will define our work well into the future.”
